Last reviewed: July 2026
Recruit CRM is a widely used ATS/CRM for recruitment agencies, aimed mainly at smaller teams, with a low entry price and 24/7 support. This review covers what it does, where its limits show, and how it compares with Spott, an AI-native ATS and CRM. The short version: the two overlap on core tracking, and the real differences are how AI is built in and how it is priced.
Recruit CRM was founded in 2017 and is co-founded by Sean (Shoanak) Mallapurkar, CEO, and Ajay Mallapurkar, Chairman. It is bootstrapped and serves more than 1,500 recruitment and staffing businesses across 100+ countries with a team of around 200. It grew first as a lower-cost alternative to legacy tools like Bullhorn.

Sourcing
Recruit CRM offers keyword and AI sourcing, a Chrome extension and AI resume parsing. Its AI Sourcing takes a natural-language or voice query and pulls profiles from public web and LinkedIn data, but it runs on credits, with a set number of searches per plan, and in-database search still depends on how completely records were filled in. Resume parsing can map to the custom fields you define.
Spott takes a more automated approach. It parses resumes, enriches profiles with current contact details automatically, and searches semantically. You describe the person you want in plain language, for example "candidates with fintech experience in Germany," and Spott finds them across all the data it holds rather than the exact fields someone remembered to complete. Perfect keywords are optional.
User experience
Recruit CRM's interface is straightforward to learn. It leans functional rather than flashy, and the Kanban view can get column-heavy as you scale.
Spott focuses on a fast, clean interface, and every account reaches the product team directly rather than a tiered support queue.
Outreach
Recruit CRM supports more than email. It has two-way email and calendar sync, phone calling and recording, automated email sequences from the Business plan, bulk texting, and LinkedIn messaging on the Enterprise tier or as a per-user add-on. The trade-off is that these channels sit across different tiers and add-ons rather than in one place, and campaign setup is not the most intuitive part of the product.
Spott brings mail, calendar and WhatsApp onto the candidate's record, so the full conversation history stays in one place. AI handles follow-ups, reply detection and message drafting from past interactions and candidate data, and multi-channel campaigns run on the Pro plan without a second tool.
Candidate presentation
Recruit CRM includes candidate presentation on its Business plan and up: resume redaction and formatting with preset templates, plus an Executive Search Report Generator. The output follows Recruit CRM's preset templates rather than your branding.
Spott treats candidate presentation as a core job. It generates a fully branded, professional report from the data it already holds in seconds, and clients review the shortlist in a portal you have branded, so the document looks like it came from your agency.
Bottom line
Recruit CRM can work for small and boutique agencies that want a low entry price and keep their AI use light. Teams tend to move to Spott for two reasons: its AI is native and unmetered rather than layered on and billed by credit, and mail, calendar and WhatsApp live on one record rather than across tiers. If that is what you are optimising for, Spott is the stronger choice. Where entry price is the deciding factor, Recruit CRM is the cheaper starting point.
Frequently Asked
Yes, for a small, settled team it covers core tracking at a low price and has 24/7 support. Agencies that need uncapped semantic matching, multi-channel outreach in one place, or plan to scale their AI use tend to outgrow the metered model.
Yes. Recruit CRM offers AI sourcing (natural-language and voice), AI candidate matching, GPT-assisted drafting, AI resume parsing and a set of AI agents, plus its own MCP connector. The difference from Spott is how the AI is built and billed: Recruit CRM layers AI on a keyword-and-fields core and meters it by credit and tier, while Spott is AI-native on a vectorized database with the AI included in every plan.
For a small, settled team it covers core applicant tracking well at a low entry price, and Recruit CRM markets 24/7 live chat support. The trade-offs are commercial: AI matching is capped by tier, and enrichment, automation and LinkedIn messaging run on credits or the top plan, so AI tooling and channels spread across tiers as you scale. Teams that want uncapped semantic matching and multi-channel outreach included tend to move to an AI-native platform.
Recruit CRM publishes its pricing in USD: Pro $95, Business $135, Enterprise $215 per user per month billed annually; month-to-month runs higher. Data enrichment, workflow automation, advanced analytics, job multiposting and LinkedIn messaging are billed on top as credits or per-user add-ons. Spott's pricing is $139 (Core) and $199 (Pro) per user per month billed annually, with the AI included rather than metered.
The main trade-offs are commercial rather than technical. AI matching is capped per tier, enrichment and automation run on credits, and LinkedIn messaging and workflow automation sit on the top plan or as add-ons, so channels and AI tooling spread across tiers as you scale.
Spott is a strong Recruit CRM alternative for agencies that have outgrown a metered, keyword-and-fields core. It runs on a vectorized database that understands context across calls, notes and messages, with mail, calendar and WhatsApp on one record and built-in call intelligence, and the AI included in the plan rather than billed by credit. Recruit CRM is often shortlisted next to Recruiterflow, so that comparison is a useful next read if AI is your deciding factor. Migration to Spott takes about four weeks.
