Spott launches US expansion

Spott doubles down on the US market

Spott is expanding into the United States, hiring former McKinsey consultant Tycho De Saeytyd as Head of US to build a local team and take on the largest recruitment market in the world.

The expansion follows a period of rapid growth that has seen the company scale from a small founding team to over 20 people, land customers on every continent, and earn a spot among the fastest-growing software companies in Belgium. By year-end, the team is expected to reach around 60 people globally.

Growth that earned the right to expand

Spott's trajectory has been driven by strong customer adoption and disciplined execution. The company grew from 4 to 21 people while spending only a fraction of its $3.2M seed round backed by Y Combinator and Base10 Partners - putting it close to profitability at a pace most SaaS companies do not reach this early.

Internationally, Spott is already working with firms such as CGP Group in Singapore and HW Anderson in the US. The platform has gained traction across Europe, Asia, and North America, with recruitment companies across markets actively choosing it over established incumbents.

That global pull - not just local push - is what made the US expansion a matter of when, not if.

Our growth gave us the confidence to move early in the US, the biggest recruitment market in the world. By year-end, we expect to be around 60 people globally.

Tycho De Saeytyd joins as Head of US

To lead the expansion, Spott has hired Tycho De Saeytyd, formerly a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.

At McKinsey, Tycho advised global organisations on strategy, operations, and scaling - exactly the kind of work required to crack a new market. His background in structured problem-solving, assembling high-performing teams, and driving execution under pressure makes him a natural fit to build Spott's US operation from the ground up.

He will be responsible for building a local team with the ambition to reach around 10 people by end of year - covering sales, customer success, and partnerships.

Spott stood out to me for its strong traction, a great team, and a product that clearly delivers. It has the potential to make a strong impact on the global agency recruitment market.

Hiring someone of Tycho's calibre reflects the seriousness of the commitment. This is not a remote experiment. It is a dedicated US operation with senior leadership driving it from day one.

My job is simple: land, build a team, and prove the product in the biggest recruitment market in the world.

Taking on the legacy incumbents

The US recruitment technology market is dominated by platforms that were built before AI existed and have been retrofitting ever since. Firms pay premium prices for a base system, then stack add-ons for matching, note-taking, analytics, and automation - each with its own contract and cost.

Spott takes the opposite approach. As an AI-native ATS and CRM, every capability is built into the platform from the ground up:

  • Semantic candidate matching that understands context from calls, notes, messages, and CVs - not just keywords
  • Auto-generated notes from every call and meeting
  • AI candidate reports built from transcriptions, CVs, and job descriptions in one click
  • Continuous data enrichment that keeps your database current without manual effort
  • Unified inbox across email, WhatsApp, and Socials
  • Outreach campaigns with multi-channel sequences

Everything included. No add-on modules, no per-action AI fees, no separate contracts for features that should be standard.

What comes next

With Tycho on the ground and a local team taking shape, Spott is building the infrastructure to serve US firms with the same direct support and fast onboarding that its customers in Europe and Asia already experience.

The expansion is significant not just for who is leading it, but for what it signals. Entering the US, hiring senior McKinsey talent, and building toward 60 people globally by year-end - this is a company preparing for a much bigger stage.

Spott has all the ingredients to be the number one platform for agency recruiting, but it needs to crack the US, and I'm here to make that happen.
