Software engineer (Backend)

About the Role

Spott is a YC-backed AI startup on a mission to transform the recruitment industry. We're building the first AI-native recruitment platform (ATS & CRM) to help recruiters close more placements and everyone find the right job. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will own critical systems, set technical direction, and ensure our product meets the highest standards of quality and scalability.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve backend services with TypeScript and Node.js for our core recruitment platform.
• Lead design discussions, set technical direction for major backend areas, and review code to maintain high quality as the team scales.
• Work on product features and code improvements to support growing customer needs.
• Collaborate in a fast-moving environment focused on learning and growth.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related IT field, plus at least 2 years of backend development experience.
• Passion for solving complex technical challenges and designing scalable solutions, with the ability to make pragmatic tradeoffs.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing architecture decisions beyond your own scope.
• Experience building AI-driven applications (e.g., prompt engineering or fine-tuning is a plus).
