Software Engineer (Backend)

About the Role

At Spott, a YC-backed AI startup based in Leuven, we are building the first AI-native recruitment platform, an ATS and CRM that helps professional recruiters close more placements and helps everyone find the right job more easily. As a backend engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our core operating software, working with Node.js and TypeScript to deliver a fast, scalable, and personal product that resets industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Drive back-end development of our recruitment platform, focused on Node.js and TypeScript.
• Build core product features and improve backend code to support customer growth at scale.
• Set technical direction for major backend areas, lead design discussions, and uphold code quality as the team grows.
• Collaborate in a supportive, fast-moving environment where you can learn and grow quickly.

Requirements

• Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
• Preferably 2+ years of backend development experience.
• Passion for solving complex technical challenges and designing scalable software, with pragmatic decision-making on tradeoffs.
• Experience mentoring engineers, raising a team's technical bar, and influencing architecture decisions.
• Experience building AI-driven applications is a plus, including prompt engineering or fine-tuning.
