Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

About the Role

Spott is a YC-backed AI startup building the first AI-native recruitment platform. We are a full reset for an industry still running on outdated methods. As a Senior Software Engineer (Backend), you will set technical direction, lead architecture discussions, and build scalable systems that empower recruiters to close more placements.

Responsibilities

• Drive back-end development of our recruitment platform, primarily with Typescript and Node.js.
• Deliver core product features and backend improvements that support rapid customer growth.
• Set technical direction for major backend systems, lead design discussions, and uphold code quality through reviews.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team.
• Collaborate in a fast-moving, supportive environment with opportunities to learn and grow.

Requirements

• Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of backend development experience.
• Proven ability to solve complex technical challenges and make pragmatic tradeoff decisions.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing architecture beyond your immediate scope.
• Experience building AI-driven applications; prompt engineering or fine-tuning experience is a strong plus.
