DevOps Engineer

About the Role

Spott is a YC-backed AI startup based in Leuven, Belgium, on a mission to transform the $700 billion recruitment industry. We're building the first AI-native recruitment platform (ATS & CRM) that empowers professional recruiters. As a DevOps Engineer, you'll own the infrastructure behind our platform, which runs on TypeScript and Node.js, keeping it fast, secure, and scalable. You'll set the technical direction for major infrastructure components, lead design discussions, and ensure reliability as we scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the infrastructure for our recruitment platform, ensuring performance, security, and scalability.
• Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, observability, and cloud setup to support customer growth.
• Set technical direction for major infrastructure parts, leading design discussions and reviewing changes.
• Work in a supportive, open, fast-moving environment where you can learn and grow quickly.

Requirements

• Master's degree in IT, Computer Science, or Software Engineering, and preferably 3+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Passion for building reliable, scalable systems with pragmatic decision-making on infrastructure and tooling.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containers (Docker, Kubernetes), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience mentoring engineers, raising operational standards, and influencing infrastructure decisions beyond your own scope.
• Experience supporting AI-driven applications in production (model serving, GPU infrastructure, or observability for AI workloads is a plus).
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash and Python; Go is a plus).
• Deep understanding of networking (VPCs, subnets, routing, peering, load balancers, TLS, certificates).
• Knowledge of identity and access management (role design, short-lived credentials) and secrets management (rotation, encryption keys).
• Experience with release engineering and deployment strategies.
• Hands-on operation of distributed OLTP, OLAP, and document databases (OLTP management is most important).
• Strong reliability and operations skills: observability, tracing, alerting, defining SLOs, incident response, postmortems, and developer tooling.
• Disaster recovery planning (geo-redundant backups, recovery procedures, RTO/RPO targets and testing).
