Recruit CRM ATS vs Spott
In-depth Review
Find the perfect recruitment platform for you with our detailed comparisons
Welcome to our blog post comparing two recruitment software solutions: RecruitCRM and Spott. In the fast-moving world of recruitment and the rise of AI, choosing the right tools can make a big difference. We'll look at where RecruitCRM does well, where it falls short, and how Spott compares with its advanced features and intuitive design.
RecruitCRM was founded in 2017 by Shoanak Mallapurkar in India. The company is primarily bootstrapped, with a small investment from Shoanak’s father. RecruitCRM’s initial positioning as a more affordable and user-friendly alternative to Bullhorn proved successful, enabling it to scale globally. RecruitCRM revenue surpasses $20 million. Since 2023, the company has hired an additional 300 employees from India and has been working hard to professionalize its operations, though with mixed results.
The recruitment landscape has evolved.
Recruiters choose Spott to always have an edge over their competitors.
What about you?

Sourcing
RecruitCRM offers solid sourcing tools with strong filters and keyword-based search. You can search within notes, but only using exact terms and not alongside other data, since there’s no contextual understanding. Resume parsing is powered by Sovren and extracts key candidate details well, but the overall workflow still leans heavily on manual input and precise keyword matching.
Spott takes a more automated and intelligent approach. It parses resumes and enriches candidate profiles with up-to-date contact details automatically. Its AI-native search understands natural language, allowing you to ask questions like “show me candidates with fintech experience in Germany.” It then highlights the relevant matches going through all available data, making it faster and easier to find the right talent without perfect keywords.

User experience
RecruitCRM's initial competitive edge eight years ago was its superior UI/UX. However, the platform has seen little to no evolution since then. The company has shifted its focus towards customer success rather than product innovation, following a similar path to Bullhorn. As a result, the overall look and feel no longer meet modern standards.
At Spott, we’re building the most powerful platform with an intuitive, user-friendly interface. While customer support is important, we know your team would rather focus on recruiting than waste time with offshore support calls. Spott is committed to delivering a product that not only performs flawlessly but is a pleasure for your team to use every day.

Outreach
Setting up campaigns in RecruitCRM isn’t very intuitive, you can barely notice the enroll button and tracking replies or performance can be tricky. Additionally, RecruitCRM’s outreach is limited to email, lacking native LinkedIn or WhatsApp integration.
Spott, on the other hand, supports multi-channel outreach across email, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp in one place. It’s easy to set up campaigns, and AI handles follow-ups, reply detection, and even message generation based on all past interactions and available candidate/client data.

Candidate presentation
Recruit CRM’s Business plan includes basic candidate presentation features, such as resume redaction and formatting with predefined templates. As a result, the output is not very professional, and only a small number of executive search firms and staffing agencies choose to use it.
In contrast, candidate presentation is a core strength of Spott. You can use your own PowerPoint or Word template, and Spott automatically generates high-quality reports based on all available data, saving significant time and ensuring a professional, fully branded presentation.

Bottom line
RecruitCRM is designed for small global recruitment agencies and offers a user-friendly solution with 24/7 customer support. While it covers core ATS/CRM needs and offers several integrations, making it a viable alternative to Bullhorn, it falls short in professionalism and AI capabilities. For agencies seeking a more modern, professional, and powerful solution, better alternatives exist.
